- Excitation and signal conditioning for up to eight independent LVDT transducers
- DC outputs multiplexed to a host-mounted A/D converter
- 5 KHz excitation frequency (1-10 KHz optional)
- Individual offset, gain and phase adjustments
- Up to 64 LVDT's per A/D converter
- Designed, made, supported, and manufactured in the USA
The
LVDT-8 is mounted externally to the host computer
in a metal enclosure that measures 8" x 4.75"
x 0.75". Each LVDT-8 provides AC excitation
and signal conditioning to eight independent LVDT
transducers connected to the card via terminal
blocks. A regulated voltage oscillator supplies
standard 5 KHz excitation (1-10 KHz available)
to the primary windings of the LVDT's. Signals
from each LVDT secondary pass through an RC phase
adjustment circuit and are then applied to a synchronous
demodulator and low pass active filter for conversion
to DC voltage. The DC signal then passes through
an amplifier which provides offset and gain adjustment.
Gain-selection jumpers are provided on each channel.
All DC outputs are connected to an 8:1 multiplexer.
The multiplexer is controlled by a 3-bit address
(A0, Al, A2) from the A/D converter in the host
computer. The output of the multiplexer is buffered
and connected via jumpers OV-0 through OV-7 to
one of eight output channels. Outputs can then
be coupled to multiplexed A/D cards such as ACCES'
Model AD12-8. Since one LVDT-8 module requires
only one output channel to serve eight transducers,
a total of 64 transducers can be served per eight-input
A/D card. If more channels are needed, then additional
A/D card(s) can be installed in the computer.
